Bodhi Nite Stall

Volunteers and helps are welcomed!

UNIBUDS has grown and this year UNIBUDS will be celebrating its 29th Birthday! And so we welcome you to our anniversary night -- Bodhi Nite 2009!

We, as enthusiastic members of UNIBUDS, are going to set up a marketing stall in front of the Uni Main Library to promote and sell Bodhi Nite tickets! Of course, we hope that you will be able to help as well! We will be meeting up at 8.30am in the morning at the Unibuds Library (Squarehouse level 3) to set up, and pack up at 3pm!

What can you help? We need more menpower to set up as well as pack up because we need to carry everything to the stall (including the table, Buddha statue, banner etc) all the way from the lower campus to the upper campus (or the opposite way). Other than that, we will need people to look after the stall as well.

Don't worry if you only have 1-2 hours of free time in a week for the stall because we welcome everyone to be there anytime! Or you can even bring your lunch to the stall and eat with the rest of us!! There goes the saying: "The More the Merrier"!!

If you feel like contributing but don't know how to contribute, this is a GREAT chance! To let us know your availability, contact us now!

The Compassionate Heart

UNIBUDS Meditation Workshop

Theme: The Compassionate Heart

Metta is one of the more important teachings of the Buddha. During the last Meditation Workshop, the theme was Vipassana Meditation. Metta meditation is actually one of the 4 meditation practices in vipassana. It is one of the more important teachings of the Buddha. So what is metta or loving kindness? How can we practice it in meditation? Curious about how we can spread loving kindness through meditation? Then, you should really come for the workshop!

The workshop will provide Dhamma talks and guided meditation to assist you in learning.

Whether you are new to the concept of meditation/buddhism or otherwise, you are more than welcome to join.

Dana (food) will be offered to Venerable as a practice of generosity, as such, you are welcome to bring in a dish or two to share with all. Please be mindful that the dish should be a vegetarian dish that does not contain garlic or onion with respect to the Venerable's diet. If you are interested to come along or to offer dana, drop me an email to let me know! If you decide to turn up last minute, it would be great as well.

If there is any inquiries about the workshop, just contact me either by email or call.

Speaker's Profile:
Venerable Neng Rong has earned her Masters in Educational Administration at UNSW in 1993 and her Masters of Arts (Buddhist Studies) from the Taiwan Chung Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies in 1999. Venerable has done extensive work in teaching of scripture classes for both primary and high school students. She is also involved in teaching Buddhism to university student groups from UNSW, Sydney University, Macquarie University and University of Technology. Venerable helps with providing support, advice, and counseling for the university Buddhist community and any other members of the university community in general. She hopes to promote religious understanding, peace and spirituality on campus. Venerable Neng Rong is the representative of Venerable Tsang Hui who is one of the UNIBUDS's patrons.
